Firefighters battled house fire in Osakis Thursday

Around 11:40 a.m. Thursday, March 7, Osakis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 18 West Pike Street in Osakis.
Smoke was reportedly seen coming from the roof overhang of the home when the fire department was paged.
Once on scene, firefighters tackled flames shooting from the front of the house, located between Central and First Avenue West, about a half block west of Osakis Public School.
There was reportedly no one home when the fire was reported.
Osakis Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
Friday morning, the American Red Cross announced it is assisting two adults and one child following the fire. The Red Cross helps provide disaster relief for immediate recovery needs, such as shelter, clothing, food, and emotional support.
