Obituary: Breanna Becthold, 28

Breanna Leigh Becthold, 28, Lake Crystal, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, June 18, 2010.

Breanna was born July 10, 1981 at Fargo, North Dakota, to Todd and Kimberly Schoeck. She graduated from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School in 1999. In 2003 she graduated magna cum laude from Concordia College in Moorhead. She was active in Bel Canto and The Concordia Choir while attending Concordia.

For four years during college, Breanna was a camp counselor at Luther Crest Bible Camp. During this time she realized her passion for teaching.

Breanna received her master of arts in education at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2005. She was hired by St. James Public Schools as an English teacher in 2003. She served as the president of the local union, Education Minnesota-St. James. Recently, she served as a spokesperson for Education Minnesota. She was passionate about the continued quality of education in Minnesota.

In 2005, she met and fell in love with Chris Becthold. They were married on May 12, 2007. The love of both of their lives, Karley LouAnn, was born on March 24, 2009.

Breanna enjoyed reading, writing and the arts. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. James. Mostly, she enjoyed being a wife and mother. Breanna had a beautiful smile, a witty sense of humor and a caring heart. She made friends easily and had many wonderful relationships to show for it. She was special to all her many friends, family and students. She was the best big sister Charlie and Laryssa could ask for. She was the best friend and support her brother-in-law T.J. could have.

Breanna will be greeted and embraced in heaven by loved ones who preceded her.

She is survived by her husband, Chris Becthold and daughter, Karley Becthold of Lake Crystal; parents, Todd and Kim Schoeck of Walker; parents-in-law, Jeff and Glenda Becthold of St. James; brother, Charlie Schoeck of Coon Rapids; sister, Laryssa Schoeck of Walker; brother-in-law, T.J. Becthold of Fairmont; grandparents, Jim and Dianne Walsh of Osakis, LaVaun Schoeck of Osakis, Ardelle Walsh of Glenwood, Raymond and Jan Becthold of Allison, Iowa, Janet Neese of Clarion, Iowa, Celia Day of Clarion; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by Grandpa Jake Schoeck; cousin, Hayley Waldvogel; great-grandparents, Howard and Alice Foreng, Eddie Walsh; and grandparents-in-law, Harold Neese and Judy Becthold.

Funeral services were held June 24 at the St. James High School with the Rev. K. Christian Johnson officiating. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James.
