The National Weather Service has extended a Red Flag Warning through today for Central and Southern Minnesota.

Grass, brush and crops are dry across the area and the Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.

Forecasters report that southerly winds today will increase to over 20 miles an hour with gusts over 30 miles an hour at times, especially over West Central Minnesota.

The warning could be extended into Friday as another day of strong winds has been forecasted. However, Friday's forecast calls for a chance of showers.
