State Class A softball: Season is over for Osakis

Veronica Neumann's RBI single through the left side of the infield drove in Tanis Lura and broke a six-all tie and gave Hawley a 7-6 victory over Osakis in the consolation semifinals. Hawley now advances to the Class A consolation championship tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., while Osakis's season comes to an end with a 23-2 record.

Neumann led the Nuggets at the plate with a 4-for-6 effort, driving in a run and scoring one of her own.

Jessy Noreen went the distance to earn the win as she allowed six runs - five earned - on 13 hits while striking out nine.

Saabrina Zimmel took the loss for Osakis and went 3-of-5 from the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored. Brianne Giesler also added three hits in the loss.

Zimmel went all nine innings, allowing seven runs, four earned, on 15 hits and three walks, striking out three. Both Osakis and Hawley had four errors.
