Two local men face drug charges after they were arrested in a drug bust Wednesday, March 14 in Osakis.
John Hinderscheid, 27, of Alexandria and Craig Cowdery, 46, of Osakis, were arrested after a bust at 605 East Main Street turned up 223.9 grams of methamphetamine, 43 marijuana plants growing in the garage, two handguns, 16 long guns and $34,224 in cash.
The meth recovered in the bust has a street value of $44,780, according to the West Central Minnesota Narcotics Task Force (WCMNTF).
The men made their first court appearance Friday, March 16 in Douglas County District Court.
They both face first-degree drug charges and, if convicted, face up to 30 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $1 million. One of the men arrested has a previous first-degree controlled substance conviction and, if convicted, faces up to 40 years in prison.
The Douglas County SWAT team, which includes officers from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Alexandria Police Department, assisted in executing the search warrant Wednesday.
The Osakis Police Department, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office and Crow Wing Drug Task Force also assisted in the investigation and bust.
