From the Pulpit: Who has the truth?
From the very beginning, the devil has sown doubt and confusion by asking, “Did God really say?”By: Pastor Allan Craig, Redeemer Lutheran Church, The Osakis Review
From the very beginning, the devil has sown doubt and confusion by asking, “Did God really say?” Therefore, we will be easily misled if we don’t know what God has caused to be written for our learning. But who has the correct interpretation of what the Bible says? The Bible tells us!
In Acts 17:10-11, the Bereans are praised because they “searched the Scriptures daily” to see if what St. Paul was telling them was true. They even checked up on the Apostle Paul himself to make sure what he was saying agreed with Scripture. As Jesus Himself declares, “They shall all be taught by God.” (John 6:45 - quoting from Isaiah 54:13)
In the same letter where the Apostle John writes to all believers: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God,” (1 John 4:1) he also writes: “you (plural.) have an anointing from the Holy One... and you (plural) do not need that anyone teach you.” (1 John 2:20, 27) Thankfully, God has not left us on our own. Together, as children of God, we “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:27) To be continued…
