An expansion was planned for Community Memorial Home to include West View Assisted Living Apartments on the facility’s west side. The project was estimated to cost about $1.3 million.
Osakis High School Principal Tim Roggenbuck and Osakis Police Chief Mark Gilson attended a school safety conference in Washington, D.C. The trip was funded through a federal grant.
Road construction season hit Osakis in a big way. More than $6 million in projects were slated for the Osakis area, including: Highway 27 reconstruction, Oak and Pike Street reconstruction and Central Lakes Trail paving.
Fishermen’s Corner in Osakis advertised quality live bait, the area’s largest tackle selection and free Lake Osakis maps for customers.

Kyle Dirkes, freshman FFA member, was presented the Star Greenhand Award by Dennis Rupp, FFA advisor. Ken Kraemer, FFA president, was presented the FFA Star Chapter Farmer Award – the award recognizes Kraemer’s four years of activities in the FFA chapter.
The Colonial Club in Nelson advertised a Mahi Mahi dinner special for $6.95 on Tuesday night
Nora Mikkelson of the VFW Auxiliary presented cash prizes to Steve Pomerleau, Tara Robinson and Linda Johnson for their creative, award-winning Art Poster Contest entries.
Gillis Rexall Drug advertised its grand re-opening sale and offered large cans of Pledge for $1.89, aluminum foil for 47 cents, 12-packs of Pepsi for $2.99 and Sunlight dishwashing soap for 89 cents.

Thirty-one high school seniors from Osakis, Belle River, Villard and West Union were honored at a very impressive Corporate Communion service at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Osakis last Sunday morning. They were also guests of the St. Michael’s Council of the Knights of Columbus at a breakfast following in the church parlors.
A front-page photo featured Yvonne Wagner and Lois Fiskness about to board a Greyhound Bus en route to Winnipeg, Canada. The girls were sent as representatives of the Osakis Rotary Club.
An Osakis City Dairy ad read: Milk – it’s a social drink for the young set. The young set is hep to milk’s delicious taste and body-building powers. And a milk snack is ideal for socializing.

April 29, 1937
The inch of rain accompanied by a hard wind last Friday morning, April 23, cleared Lake Osakis of its ice covering. At that time the level of the lake was somewhat lower than it was last spring.
A large turnout of Osakis people was on-hand to hear Edwin Widseth of Minnesota football fame last Sunday evening at the Osakis Lutheran Church where he was principal speaker at the Luther League Program.
Okkie’s Lunch advertised that they had just installed a new ice cream cabinet and malted milk mixer. Saturday only, three ice cream cones are 10 cents and hot pork sandwiches with potatoes and gravy with milk or coffee are 15 cents.
