Osakis girls golf to first in home invitational

The Osakis girls’ golf team defended its home course on Monday afternoon as the Silverstreaks won by 14 strokes over second-place finisher Kimball-Eden Valley-Watkins.

The Osakis girls’ golf team defended its home course on Monday afternoon as the Silverstreaks won by 14 strokes over second-place finisher Kimball-Eden Valley-Watkins.

Sophomore Annalise Savageau led Osakis from the No. 1 spot in the lineup and tied for medalist honors with a 44. Erin Dingmann of KEVW also shot a 44 as the two teams finished with four-person totals of 190 and 204, respectively.

Peyton Garcia gave Osakis another solid score from the second spot in the lineup. She was right behind Savageau and Dingmann with a 45. Emily Backes carded a 48, while Katelyn Foster and Ariel Chalmers each shot a 53 to provide the final score for the Silverstreaks.

Minnewaska Invite

Annalise Savageau finished tied for 12th as the Osakis girls finished fourth at the Minnewaska Invitational girls’ golf meet Friday while facing some of the top teams and individuals in the state.

Savageau finished the day with an 89, 13 strokes behind the leader, Cassie Deeg of Stillwater, who is ranked No. 2 in the state in combined rankings of all three classes.

Stillwater won the team title with a 330, with Minnewaska second just five points behind.

Ariel Chalmers posted a 97, Peyton Garcia 99, Katelyn Foster 101, Emily Backes 104 and Hannah Lien 136.
