Shiny chrome, vivid paint jobs and dozens of sweet rides will lure classic car fans to Osakis this weekend for the Roddin’ Round the Lake classic car show.

The 21st annual event will shift into gear Saturday, July 14 and it’s hosted each year by the Central Lakes Cruzers car club.

The day features a variety of events and the fun fires up at 7 a.m. Saturday with the Show-n-Shine car show in downtown Osakis. Sweet rides will line the main drag through town and spectators are welcome to check out the cars up close and chat with the owners. The cars will be on display through 3 p.m.

At 10 a.m. the celebrity auction will take place at Pollard Community Center, next to the fire hall. The Osakis Women’s Association hosts the event each year. There will be drawings for chamber bucks held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Horse-drawn trolley rides will be available beginning at 10 a.m.

Then, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., kids’ games and an inflatable hopper will keep families entertained, as well. That afternoon, the Nelson Men’s Club will host a kids’ toy drawing.

Starting at 3 p.m., awards and prizes will be handed out to car owners – there will be more than 50 plaques presented.

After the awards, a parade will wind its way to Community Memorial Home to share the classic beauties with residents there.

After the parade, classic car owners and classic car fans are invited to a campfire and informal get-together hosted by Central Lakes Cruzers to be held north of Osakis on County Road 3 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Roddin’ Round the Lake is sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts of Osakis, Arvig Communication Systems, First National Bank of Osakis, Osakis Area Chamber of Commerce, Osakis VFW, Walleye Lodge, Nelson Men’s Club and Central Lakes Cruzers.
