Recurring sewage back-ups in Osakis homes prompted the Osakis City Council to take swift action to remedy the situation. Engineers WSN, Design Tree, Ulteig and Landteam were interviewed for the task.

Landteam was awarded a contract to perform work on 2nd Avenue and Oak Street during a special meeting held by the Osakis City Council on July 24. The project will be billed at 14 percent commission. The company will work with public works superintendent Kurt Haakinson.

A public hearing has been set for August 15 at 7 p.m. at the Ed Pollard Community Center to hear details of Landteam’s feasibility study that was presented to the council by Tom Klemenhagen at the August 6 regular meeting.

Klemenhagen said review of video footage revealed that the pipes on 2nd Avenue are in poor repair. He urged the council to move forward with the planning process quickly.

“Contractors are hungry right now,” Klemenhagen said, adding that the season is favorable for bids.
