Fire destroyed two cabins and a garage Saturday night and fortunately, everyone escaped the blaze. According to Osakis Fire Chief Chad Mathews, the department was called to a structure fire at 2651 Lake Street in Osakis at 11:22 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.

Fire Prevention Week in Osakis, October 7-13, will kick off on Sunday, October 7 with an open house at the Osakis Fire Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. Travis Middendorf, Fire Prevention Week coordinator this year, said the department will showcase the new live kitchen fire simulator to demonstrate fire safety. There are only two simulators in Minnesota.
