Osakis reading scores jump 9 percent

A celebration is taking place at the Osakis public schools. The statewide testing reading scores are back up and exceeding statewide percentages. Elementary Principal Pat Ryan announced to the Osakis School Board at its September 10 meeting that Osakis has been named a Celebration Eligible School for high achievement in increasing its testing scores for 2012.

Refinancing will save Osakis district $75,000 a year

The Osakis School District will refinance $11.8 million in 2003 General Obligation bonds in a bond sale on Monday, October 8, which will result in a savings of about $75,000 per year for the district.

Osakis school enrollments edging up

Osakis Public School enrollment is 844 students this fall, which is up 2.49 percent over last year. Elementary numbers accounted for the entire increase of 21 students, at 423 total; with grades 7-12 staying close to last year at 421, according to Superintendent John Peterka.
