Incumbents prevail in township elections

Township elections took place Tuesday, March 14. Here are the results for townships in the Osakis area:

Belle River Township: Supervisor Doug Steidl and Treasurer Jodi Niblett were running unopposed and were both re-elected.

Orange Township: The two incumbents up for election — Supervisor Bruce Massmann and Treasurer Newton Earl — were both unopposed and re-elected.

Osakis Township: Incumbent Supervisor Brian Niehoff was running unopposed and was re-elected.

Gordon Township: Bennie Redning was running unopposed for the supervisor spot and was the winner. No one filed for the treasurer position but the incumbent, Alicia Franzen, received the most write-in votes to remain in office.

West Union Township: Nathan Stelling was elected supervisor and Patricia Wallace was elected treasurer. They were both running unopposed.

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
