Technology big part of school expenditures
Capital Expenditures requests totaling $144,746.70 were approved by the Osakis School Board at its Monday, May 8 meeting for the coming school year.
"Technology will play a huge part on what we pay for capital expenditures," Supt. Randal Bergquist told the School Board at its May 3 work session.
The requests included $22,796.85 from the elementary and high school staffs, including books, curriculum, tables, desks and some alternative seating for Kari Reiffenberger/Joey Andreasen. The new seating would include four balance ball chairs, four Hokki stools, eight Ergo Ergo chairs, and desks.
With the addition of district expenditures of $112,063 for technology, software and hardware, the grand total amounts to $157,656.70.
Long Term Facilities Maintenance
The budget for the 2017-18 school year Long Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) was approved by the School Board at its May 8 meeting. Total cost will be $154,285, which will include resurfacing Roof 1 and Roof 2 this summer at a cost of $81,801.
Other LTFM projects will include tuckpointing outside walls at a cost of $19,500; new auditorium LED lights; replacing the 20-year-old sound system in the high school gym; replacing high school light fixtures with LED lighting; replacing cracked sidewalks; replacing bus garage doors, carpeting in the three special education classrooms, and replacing worn out old gym doors.
