Local Gospel singer to open concert featuring The Needhams

Local Gospel singer and Nashville recording artist Fred Walter will open a concert for The Needhams at the Osakis Public School Auditorium on Thursday, June 15.

Walter's new CD, "Get Ready for a Revival," will be available for the first time.

The concert, featuring Christian music for the whole family, starts at 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be accepted as admission.

Walter grew up in Osakis, went to school in Villard and he was surrounded by music at every turn.

His parents enjoyed southern gospel music and took him to a few concerts when he was a young boy, including one by the Blackwood Brothers, fueling his love for the genre.

Over the years, Walter has sung in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, weddings, funerals and churches, including his home church of New Life Christian Church in Alexandria.
