Osakis test scores shatter state averages
Osakis Superintendent Randy Bergquist had a big smile on his face, in addition to using such phrases as "awesome scores" when he reported to the Osakis School Board on the MCA results for the district, at its Monday, Sept. 11 regular meeting.
The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are the statewide tests that help districts measure student progress toward Minnesota's academic standards and meet the requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Students take one test in each subject.
Osakis' scores way outdistanced the state average scores in reading, math and science for 2017.
"We are above the state average," Bergquist nodded.
The state average for all percent proficient in reading is 60.1; and in math 58.6. State science scores averaged 59.9 for fifth grade; 45.7 in eighth grade; and 56.1 in high school.
