Theodore (Ted) J. Harvey

Theodore (Ted) J. Harvey (11/10/1950 -- 9/30/2017) passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon surrounded by his wife, his three children, his sister, and his niece at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and June Harvey, and his sister, Claudia Durand. He is survived by: his wife Janet Harvey; son, John (Sarah) Harvey; daughters Heather (Mike) Rutten and Trisha (Jason) Janu; brother, Timothy (Joan) Harvey; sisters Susan Harvey and Lisa (Larry) Kramer; 7 loving grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews. Ted was born in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up in Bloomington, MN, graduated from Bloomington-Kennedy High School and later served in Germany during the Vietnam War (1969-1972) as a U.S. Army tank mechanic. He was an auto body professional in Osakis and Long Prairie, MN for much of his life where he raised his three children, taught them how to play sports and instilled in them the values of honesty, hard work, and humility. He was known by his friends and family for his loyalty, honesty, strength, and genuine appreciation for the simple things in life. Ted will be greatly missed. Please join in a celebration for life to be held at the Long Prairie American Legion October 8th from 2:00-5:00pm.
