A new sport is right on target in Osakis. Coached by OHS teachers Shad Schmidt and Chris Hunter, the Osakis Archery Club brings together more than 30 students to learn an activity that teaches discipline, concentration and fun.
More than a foot of snow made for some happy snowmobilers who could be seen zooming across the trails, lakes and any open area. After postponing during last weekend's stormy weather, vintage snowmobiles took to the ice of Faille Lake to race during the annual Ice Fest.
The impression of a community comes from its center, and Osakis' Community Center is ready for a new look. A group of Community Center users wants to revitalize it, beginning with a fresh coat of paint.

The Osakis boy Silverstreaks gave it their finest effort before a full house Friday night in the final home varsity game to be played in the old high school gymnasium. Glenwood's Waska tried to spoil the "50 Years of Cheer" festivities, but Osakis came out on top by a point, 59-58.
Mary and Don Kanten of Midway Beach Resort have adopted an exotic Cornish Rex cat named Abby and her three kittens. Cornish Rex cats are distinguished by their lack of fur, only sporting the inner down hairs, which curl as though permed.
Supt. LeRoy Mackove conducted one of the tours through the new Osakis school building under construction. The building is progressing to its May 1 completion and many of the rooms are in the final stages of wall coverings, installation of cabinetry and floor coverings.

This is the year for the Silverstreaks of Osakis High School. On Thursday evening, they came up with a magnificent game and downed a revitalized Glenwood Laker club by a score of 58 to 43 to win the District 22 Basketball Championship.
"Munster, Go Home," a comedy in color, starring Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, Butch Patrick and Terry-Thomas, is coming to Empress Theatre. The Munster family and mischievous old grandpa leave their American business to claim the estate left by a relative.
Pvt. David Ritter, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ritter of Osakis, completed a five-week accounting course at the Army Finance School, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was trained in the Army's financial recording procedures.

The Rev. A.W. MacNeill, who has been occupying the pulpit at the Presbyterian Church in this city for the past two Sundays, was given a unanimous call to the pastorate at a congregational meeting held at the church last Sunday evening. He has accepted the call.
Jacob Dunn, manager of the Osakis Shipping Association, last week bought from J.S. Farris of Osakis Township the best bunch of yearling steers that he has handled in his 13 years of experience in buying stock.They averaged $60.13 per head.
The Brown Bros.' Implement Dept. offers the Titan 10-20, the recent addition to the IHC lineup of tractors. It already has a wonderful record. It works on kerosene, no batteries needed, automatic oiling, powerful braking and handles like an automobile.
