CMH News: Baseball cards, iceman and party lines

July 22-28

Sunday morning a non-denominational worship service was held in the Terrace Heights Chapel led by Steve Fredrickson. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped and to those who conducted a Catholic communion service.

Monday morning during Read and Remember we reminisced about baseball cards, if only we'd known that the old stuff we threw away would be worth money now. We also talked about the iceman and how the ladies would treat him to a piece of lemon pie or burnt sugar cake. We also talked about the old "party line." Did you ever listen in?

Bingo was played at Terrace Heights in the afternoon

Father David Petron of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Osakis and St. Nicholas of Belle River celebrated mass on Tuesday morning in the Terrace Heights chapel. The Rosary was prayed before mass. Assisting were Dick Daas, Mary Hunter, Marilynn Grundman, Pat Mohror, Cathy Winter, Loretta Becker, Phyllis Tegals, and Bob Schluender.

Tuesday afternoon ladies from the Osakis Lutheran Church hosted the monthly birthday party. They played a game of card bingo. LaRayne Johnson was the caller. After the game, they served angel food cake with strawberries and cool whip. Assisting and bringing the dessert were lades from the Miriam and Rachel circles including, Barb Larson, Mary Redetze and Alexis Anderson.

Wednesday morning, we decorated butterflies and some ladies enjoyed a game of 500. Bingo was played at West View in the afternoon. Rev. Steve Hilde of the Long Bridge Lutheran church conducted a chapel service at CMH after bingo.

Several ladies enjoyed a manicure on Thursday morning during Nifty Nails. We also peeled and sliced a large bowl of cucumbers and made creamy cucumber salad for dinner. The Osakis Review was read before dinner. Rev. Jeremy Pederson of the Our Saviours Lutheran and Fahlun Lutheran churches conducted a Lutheran communion service in the Terrace Heights chapel. Assisting were Don and Sheila Watschke, Don Peterson, Kearney Frank and LaRayne Johnson.

Thursday afternoon we had an ice cream social. We had three ice cream freezers going, two electric and one manual, and had a lot of fun. Thanks to all our helpers, Haili Gordon, Tyler and Madison Stier, Hailey, Kaelyn and Alexis Lozano and Taylor Walker. They were a lot of help and everyone really enjoyed the special treat and having the children here to help. A big thank you to everyone.

Bingo was played on Friday afternoon.
