Todd County goat workshop offered

The University of Minnesota Extension will host the 2018 Todd County Area Goat Workshop.

It will take place Nov. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Thunder Lodge Sports Bar and Supper Club (22056 U.S. 71, Long Prairie).

Registration will start at 10 a.m. and there is no cost to attend. This workshop is intended for both dairy and meat goat producers who are interested in learning about overall goat nutrition, production, reproduction, and management of goats. Ag business professionals who work with dairy and meat goat producers are also welcome to attend.

Speakers and topics include:

Raising Replacement Does — Dr. Michael Schlegel, Purina.

Marketing Strategies — Dr. Travis Hoffmann, U of M/NDSU Extension.

Milk Quality and Keeping Milking Does Healthy — Jim Salfer, U of M Extension.

Grants and Financial Opportunities for Goat Producers — Wayne Martin, U of M Extension.

Herd Health and Reproduction — Dr. Maggie Wehseler, DVM, Litke's Vet Service.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
