The Student Theatre Project is proud to present "Singin' in the Rain Jr." at the Andria Theatre in downtown Alexandria.

It includes at least one cast member from Osakis - Brody Uhlenkamp.

The show will open on Thursday, Aug. 2 and run Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 2-4 and 9-11. All performances start at 7 p.m.

According to director David Christman, the show follows pretty closely to the original show, which was set in 1927, at the turn from silent movies to talking films. He noted that in the "junior" version of the show, some songs have been taking out and it is an abbreviated production that runs about an hour and a half.

There are 57 students in "Singing in the Rain Jr." ranging in age from 10 to 18.

Christmas said the show is great, the acting is professional and the music is fun.

According to the Andria Theatre, "Singin' in the Rain Jr." has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline with a starlet, leading man and a love affair that could change lives or break careers.

What is the Student Theatre Project?

Andria Theatre's Student Theatre Project is a summer theater camp and performing arts experience for children ages 10 to 18.

The students meet throughout the summer with performances taking place in August. A wide range of theater experiences are offered including training in vocal, drama and dance performance, marketing, ticket sales and event promotion. Students also learn about set and costume design as well as what it all takes to run a theater.
