5:30 to 7 p.m. (or until the food is gone.). First Presbyterian Church of Osakis invites everyone to its August Friendship Table Meal. This month’s meal will serve grilled brats and hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and dessert. All are welcome. Free-will donations accepted.
Friday, August 23
7:30 p.m. The Osakis Lake Association will hold an informational meeting at the Osakis VFW regarding a proposed lake project petition to the Sauk River Watershed District. More details are included in the newsletter sent to the lake association members. The goal of the project is to improve the lake’s water quality, control invasive vegetation and aquatic species, enhance recreational use, improve its fishery, remove damaging bogs, and maintain its economic value to Douglas and Todd counties. Those are unable to attend should watch for information from the lake association, www.osakislakeassociation.org to find out how to sign the petition and mail it.

4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pie and Ice Cream Social at Salem Lutheran Church.
Wednesday, August 28
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Free pulled pork meal for the Backpack Attack fundraiser at the Osakis High School. Chips, milk and ice cream will also be served until the food is gone. Free-will donations go to support Backpack Attack program to provide food for children in Osakis. The event is sponsored by the Osakis Hunger Coalition and United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties.

11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bookmobile stops – 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Carol Radjl daycare in Nelson; 1 to 2 p.m. at Community Memorial Home; 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. at Ed Pollard Community Center.
Saturday, September 7
9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Moonshine Madness Day at Panther Distillery and downtown Osakis. New events have been added — a bartender competition and Moonshine Half Mile Fun from 11 a.m. to noon. Other highlights include trolley rides between the distillery and downtown, chainsaw carving, live music at O'Town Tavern, street dance, distillery tours and food, whiskey sampling, poker walk, inflatables, kids' games, pontoon rides, bean bag tournament, softball tournament and more. Watch for more details in the Review as the event gets closer.
