The 7th annual Turkey Dash for Diabetes is once again set for Thanksgiving morning in downtown Osakis, in front of O-Town Tavern.
The 5K race will take place Thursday, Nov. 28, with the half-mile kids' run beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K set to begin at 9 a.m.
All proceeds from the event will go toward sending local kids with Type 1 diabetes to Camp Needlepoint in Hudson, Wisconsin. The camp’s purpose is to provide a fun and safe camping experience for children living with diabetes, giving them the opportunity to meet other kids just like them, as well as help them gain confidence and independence in managing their diabetes.
Last year’s event raised just over $3,000.
Savannah Walsh started the Turkey Dash, inspired by her brother, Joey, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 11 in 2009.
