7 to 10 p.m. Osakis Liquor Store Summer Bean Bag League begins.

Thursday, June 7

1 to 3:15 p.m. Bookmobile stops in Osakis. It will be at Community Memorial Home from 1 to 2 p.m. and at the Osakis Community Center from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

Wednesday, June 8-10

Take a Kid Fishing Weekend. Minnesota residents 16 or older who take a child 15 or younger fishing do not need a license for the weekend.

Monday, June 11

10:45 a.m. to noon. Traveling Tree House at Park Osagi. Free summer learning activities for children 4-11. Reading, crafts and other activities. Children receive snacks and free gently used book of their choice.

Saturday, June 9

9 p.m. "Old Timers Run" at Sidewalks Bar and Grill in West Union, featuring RHX band.

Saturday, June 16

7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Osakis Lions Lake Osakis Walleye Tournament. Fishing begins at 7 a.m. Cost for two-person team is $325. Register by 5 p.m. on June 15. Call 320-859-4781 for more information.

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. First-ever Rib Cook-Off at Knight's Pub and Grub. Blind golf cart racing, bean bags, darts, DJ, live band and more.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
