4 to 7 p.m. (or until food is gone) Osakis Hunger Coalition will serve a free pulled pork meal as a fundraiser for Backpack Attack, a project of the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties. All free-will donations will go to support Backpack Attack in Osakis. Learn more about the program and how to help sustain it.

Thursday, August 30

1 to 3 p.m. Bookmobile at Community Memorial Home from 1 to 2 p.m. and at the Community Center from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

When dark. Osakis Movie Night in the vacant lot by the Visitor's Center, featuring "Middle School — the Worst Years of My Life." Bring blanket, chair, snacks. Popcorn and soda will be available.

Saturday, September 1

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Osakis Community Memorial Home Auxiliary Fall Raffle and Bazaar at the Pollard Community Center. Morning coffee and lunch will be served.

Tuesday, September 4

8:30 a.m. A new school year starts at Osakis Public Schools.

Saturday, September 8

9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Moonshine Madness Day at Panther Distillery and downtown Osakis. Whiskey distillery tours, bull riding, food vendors, crafters, inflatables, color run, softball tournament, golf scramble, pontoon rides, semi show, street dance, bingo, bean bag tournament and more.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
