3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cross Country Kids Camp, grades 4-6. Participants will meet by the school playground.

Sunday, October 7

Noon to 6 p.m. St. Alexis Church sausage supper in West Union, featuring smoked sausage, sauerkraut, spare ribs, head cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, glazed carrots, bread, dessert, coffee and milk. All stands open at 11 a.m. in outdoor tent. Refreshments, pull tabs, quilt raffle, bingo, pumpkins, squash, gourds and more. Buffet-style dining or drive-through takeouts.

Friday, October 12

7 to 10 p.m. Senior Dance at Osakis VFW featuring Jerry and Joyce.

Thursday, November 22

9 a.m. Sixth annual Turkey Dash for Diabetes 5K Run/Walk. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at O-Town Tavern in Osakis. Kids' half-mile run starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Silent auction with handmade quilt, door prizes. Pre-register by Oct. 29 — $30 for adults (includes shirt); $20 for children 12 and younger (5K) and $15 for children 12 and younger (half-mile). For more information or to register, go to

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
