6 to 9 p.m. 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Dance at the Osakis school cafeteria.

7 p.m. Villard American Legion Ham and Turkey Bingo at United Methodist Church in Villard. Fifty-cents a card, three cards for $1. Proceeds go to community projects. Door prizes will be awarded.

Sunday, November 18

2 p.m. Gordon Men's Choir concert will take place at Salem Lutheran Church in Osakis. A free-will offering will be available to benefit the food shelf. Lunch and fellowship will follow.

Thursday, November 22

9 a.m. Sixth annual Turkey Dash for Diabetes 5K Run/Walk. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at O-Town Tavern in Osakis. Kids' half-mile run starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Silent auction with handmade quilt, door prizes. Pre-register by Oct. 29 — $30 for adults (includes shirt); $20 for children 12 and younger (5K) and $15 for children 12 and younger (half-mile). For more information or to register, go to

Thursday, November 22

Noon start. The annual Osakis Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be served at First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Serving begins at noon. All ages are welcome at no charge. The traditional holiday menu will be served. Walk-ins are welcome but reservations are appreciated. Call the church at 320-859-4550 or Osakis Senior Center at 320-859-2325. Transportation and meal delivery will be available in and near Osakis. Call to make arrangements. Free-will offering will be donated to local food shelves.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
