Student accomplishments, scholarships
Ryan M. Strelow, son of Brad and Julie Strelow of Osakis, Minnesota, has earned the distinction of being named to the dean's list for the 2018 spring semester at Saint John's University, Collegeville, MN. Strelow is a junior mathematics and computer science major at SJU.
To be included in the dean's list, students must have a semester grade-point average of at least 3.80 and have completed 12 credits for which honor points (A, B, C, etc.) are awarded. Students included on the dean's list cannot have any "unsatisfactory" or "incomplete" grades for that semester.
Grace Walter of Osakis was one of six Minnesota students awarded the Northern Co-op Foundation Scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year. Northern Co-op Foundation scholarships are awarded to students from the four state areas of Minnesota, Wisconsin and North and South Dakota who are seniors in or a graduate of high school and who show potential for significant contributions to cooperative organizations. They must be enrolled at an institution of higher learning and will take a course in business or economics that studies the principles of cooperative organizations.
Attends business camp
Osakis secondary student, Brooke Pfeffer, received a sponsorship to participate in a week-long business, career, and financial literacy camp, Minnesota Business Venture. First National Bank of Osakis provided the sponsorship for the student to attend the program.
The program is developed and organized by BestPrep, a Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to preparing students to be college-prepared, work-ready, and career-bound. More than 330 high school students from 100 schools attended and were selected to receive scholarships to participate at one of two MBV sessions at St. Cloud State University or St. John's University.
