8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Osakis Fire Department first-ever Pancake Feed at the Ed Pollard Community Center. All-you-can-eat eggs, pancakes and sausages. Milk, coffee and juice will also be served. Free-will donations will help support the Firemen's Relief Association. All those attending are eligible to win door prizes.

7 p.m. Osakis High School Band concert at the OHS Auditorium.

Thursday, May 9

11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bookmobile stops — 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Carol Radjl daycare in Nelson; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Agnes School; 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. at Community Memorial Home; 2:45 to 4 p.m. at Ed Pollard Community Center.

Saturday, May 11

7 a.m. The City of Osakis will collect leaves, grass clipping materials and other yard waste. It must be bagged separately from household refuse and put at curbside for pick-up in biodegradable bags by 7 a.m. Residents may also bring it to Osakis Clean-Up Day (details below).

9 to 11 a.m. Osakis Clean-Up Day. All general junk from in-city residents will be accepted at no charge at the Osakis Liquor Store parking lot. Free-will donations accepted and will go toward the Fourth of July fireworks display. For more information, go to

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
