11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bookmobile stops — 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Carol Radjl daycare in Nelson; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Agnes School; 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. at Community Memorial Home; 2:45 to 4 p.m. at Ed Pollard Community Center.

Saturday, May 11

7 a.m. The City of Osakis will collect leaves, grass clipping materials and other yard waste. It must be bagged separately from household refuse and put at curbside for pick-up in biodegradable bags by 7 a.m. Residents may also bring it to Osakis Clean-Up Day (details below).

9 to 11 a.m. Osakis Clean-Up Day. All general junk from in-city residents will be accepted at no charge at the Osakis Liquor Store parking lot. Free-will donations accepted and will go toward the Fourth of July fireworks display. For more information, go to www.cityofosakis.com.

Sunday, May 12

Poppy Day in Osakis. Volunteers will be positioned throughout Osakis distributing poppies. All proceeds will support veterans and veteran programs.

Friday, May 17

8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. St. Agnes fifth- and sixth-graders will host a Compost Sale in collaboration with Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management. The "plate to garden" initiative will take place in the lot north of St. Agnes, adjacent to County Road 82. Bags of compost will be sold for $3 each. Proceeds will benefit the Aurzada-Tenhoff Playground.

Friday, May 24

7 p.m. Graduation program at the Osakis High School gym.

Saturday, May 25

7:30 p.m. Concert by Jennifer Klukken in the Osakis High School Auditorium.

Sunday, June 2

Noon to 4 p.m. Osakis Bike Rodeo at the Osakis Elementary School parking lot and in the elementary gym.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
