1:30 p.m. Osakis Community Memorial Home Auxiliary will hold its general meeting in its new location, the Terrace Heights dining room.

Friday, June 14

5 to 6:30 p.m. Final registration for the Osakis Lions Club walleye tournament and light meal for team members at the Osakis VFW Club. A discussion about the tournament rules will follow. For more information, go to or call 320-760-8777, 320-250-3078 or 320-859-4781.

7 p.m. Osakis VFW Post 7902 will hold its annual Flag Retirement Service on the east end of the club on Flag Day. The public is invited. Bring tattered flags, which will be retired. The service will be short, about 15 minutes.

Saturday, June 15

7 a.m. Fishing begins for the Osakis Lions Club walleye tournament (see above item for details). Check-in is 3 p.m.

Monday, June 17

Noon to 6 p.m. Osakis Community Red Cross Blood Drive will take place at the Osakis VFW Post 7902, 701 E. 8th Ave. Call Steve or Sharon at 320-859-4151 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

Al Edenloff

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
