Osakis to honor fallen soldiers


State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, will deliver the main address at the Osakis Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 28.

The observance will begin with a march that will leave the Osakis High School at 10:30 a.m. and go to the Armed Forces Memorial. Participants include the Osakis High School Band, VFW Post and Auxiliary Honor Guards, Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies and anyone else who wants to join the march.

The program will begin at 10:45 a.m. and last about an hour.

Clergy for the service will be Pastor Rich Fitzer of the Osakis Lutheran Church.

The service will include a performance by the Gordon Men's Choir.

All in attendance will be invited to the VFW for a light lunch following the service.

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer. Al is a four-time winner of the Minnesota Newspaper Association's Herman Roe Award, which honors excellence in editorial writing.
