Firefighters from three departments battled a fire that started in a bean field southeast of Osakis Thursday, Oct. 18.

At about 4 p.m, the Douglas County Communications Center received a 911 call about a field on fire near 13461 East Cemetary Road SE in Orange Township.

The Osakis Fire Department responded and received mutual aid from the Forada and Villard fire departments.

The fire was extingquished after burning several acres of wetland.

The fire started when the Tom Grundman's combine ignited some hydrolic fluid as he was harvesting beans, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. There was some damage to the wiring on his combine and minimal damage to his bean field.
