Due to icy road conditions, many area school districts announced Friday morning that for a second consecutive day they will be closed.
Alexandria, Osakis and Brandon-Evansville public schools all made the announcements around 7 a.m. Friday. They have been joined by Minnewaska, Parkers Prairie and West Central Area schools, which are also now closed Friday.
All of those school districts had intended to start school two hours late on Friday, making those tentative announcements Thursday evening. But many roads remain in icy and snow-covered condition, and with snow continuing to fall, the decison was made to close.
In Alexandria, Compass school-age child care will be open Friday.
Alexandria Technical & Community College will open two hours late Friday.
