UPDATE: Memorial service moved indoors

John Hopper

Because of the rainy weather, the Osakis Memorial Day service will take place at the Osakis High School today, Monday, May 27 at 10:45 a.m.

There will also be no march this year.

The main address speaker and clergy at the program will be Pastor John Hopper of Salem and Sauk Valley Lutheran churches.

The Osakis High School Concert Band and the Gordon Men's Choir will perform.

All in attendance are invited to the VFW for a light lunch following the service.

Memorial Day is often confused with Veterans Day. The difference is that Memorial Day remembers the men and women who died while serving in the military while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. veterans in times of war and peace.
