Osakis Boy Scout Jacob Uhl, son of Calvin and Christine Uhl, completed his Eagle Scout project earlier this month with the help of his fellow Boy Scouts.

He erected a Smokey the Bear fire indicator sign, which will indicate the level of danger of a fire based on environmental conditions.

The sign is in the Bill Sliper Lions Park, which also houses the Osakis Armed Forces Memorial, near Highway 27 and First Avenue East and can be viewed by motorists entering town and area camping destinations.

A total of 39 volunteers helped with Uhl's project.

The accomplishment was posted on the Osakis Police Department’s Facebook page, with the comment, “Congrats for his and his fellow scouts’ hard work!”
