SUV-semi crash among several in area Saturday
Two people were taken to Alomere Health in Alexandria as a result of a sport utility vehicle-semi truck crash near the Osakis exit on Interstate 94 Saturday morning.
The crash, one of several reported in the region during the morning related to icy conditions caused by a small amount of snow and in some cases freezing rain, was reported at 10:33 a.m. on Highway 27 at I-94 in Orange Township.
A 1995 Ford Explorer, driven by Melissa Udomah, 56, of Balaton, was traveling south on Highway 27 when a Kenworth semi pulled out from the I-94 ramp onto the highway, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The report said that the Explorer could not stop, spun out and struck the trailer of the semi.
Udomah and passenger Gregory Clater, 59, of Balaton, both received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital in Alexandria. Both were wearing seat belts.
The semi driver, Logan Meyer, 28, of Swanville, was not injured.
