A three -vehicle crash Friday morning sent three people to the hospital. The crash was reported at 10:39 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 73, about 3.5 miles north of Osakis.

A 17-year-old male from Long Prairie, who was cited for failure to yield to the right of way, along with his two passengers, Christian Bearson, 17, and Brandon Fossland, 18, were all transported to Alomere Health in Alexandria.

The driver, whose name was not released, along with Bearson, were reportedly wearing their seat belt, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Fossland was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff's report.

The other two drivers were Jill Maher, 48, of Osakis, and Allison Bakkum, 40, of Alexandria. Both were wearing seat belts and neither were transported to the hospital. A passenger in Bakkum's vehicle, 10-month-old Violet Bakkum, was also not injured.

According to crash report, here's what happened:

The 17-year-old driver was reportedly stopped at a stop sign facing westbound on County Road 73 at the intersection with County Road 3. He started traveling across County Road 3 and was struck by the vehicle driven by Maher.

Maher was reportedly traveling southbound on County Road 3 when the 17-year-old driver pulled into the roadway. She was unable to stop and struck the vehicle.

Bakkum was reportedly stopped at the stop sign on County Road 73 at County Road 3 facing eastbound when she observed the crash. Her vehicle was hit by Maher's vehicle after Maher's vehicle hit the 17-year-old's vehicle.

Responding the scene included the Minnesota State Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Osakis Fire Department, Osakis First Responders and North Ambulance.
