Osakis' Class of 2015 receives awards, scholarships

Osakis High School seniors were awarded for their talent and academic achievements with scholarship awards and other recognition.

Scholarship and Citizenship:

College Awards and Other Recognition:

• Osakis Schools Scholarship (random drawing), $50: Haley Bruder, Amber Matzke

• Lakes Country Service Cooperative Awards Banquet – four students were recognized for academic achievement – Alexa Hoffarth, Emily Larson, Sarah Miller, Nils Hagen; District Scholarship for $250 presented to Alexa Hoffarth; LCSC Scholarship for $200 presented to Sarah Miller.

• Two students are National Merit Scholar Finalists: Nils Hagen and Emily Larson. Nils received full tuition at NDSU and Emily receives $30,000 per year for four years.

• Nils Hagen recognized for perfect score of 36 on ACT test; placing him in the top 1/10th of 1 percent of test scores.

The following students have been recognized by the institutions of higher learning they have chosen to attend next year based on high academic achievement and leadership ability.

• Nicole Imdieke – Minnesota State University Moorhead Scholar Award for class rank and high ACT achievement - $4,000.

• Hannah Szech – James W. Miller Family Scholarship - $1,000.

• Nils Hagen - National Merit Scholarship from North Dakota State University - Full Tuition each year over 4 years.

• Haley Bruder – President’s Shining Star Scholarship from Alexandria Community and Technical College - $1,500.

• Alexa Hoffarth – Freshman Academic Scholarship from North Dakota State University - $3,000.

• Emily Larson – National Merit Bethel University Scholarship - $30,000 per year over 4 years.

• Mackenzie Staloch – Crop Production Services Scholarship - $1,000.

• Brandon Giesler – Douglas Machine Scholarship - $500.

• Kasey Martin – University of North Dakota Academic Scholarship - $1,000.

• Jordan Judd – Achievement Scholarship from the University of Minnesota, Morris - $12,000 over 4 years.

• Taylor Spychalla – Knights of Columbus Scholarship for $200.

• Kasondra Collins – Presidential Academic Scholarship from St. Cloud State University - $6,000 over four years, SCSU Residential Life Scholarship for $500, and Viking Coca Cola Admissions Scholarship for $1,500.

• Megan Giesler – University of North Dakota Academic Scholarship - $1,000.

• Kristina Sunder– Academic Scholarship from the University of Minnesota, Morris - $6,000 over 4 years.

• Danyelle Marthaler – Achievement Scholarship from Minnesota State University, Moorhead - $5,000 over 4 years. Fulfilling our Promise Scholarship also from MSUM for $500.

• Renae Resley – Academic Achievement Scholarship from University of Minnesota, Duluth.
