The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to exercise caution on the roads Sunday as blowing snow is being blamed for creating dangerous driving conditions.

“We are asking everyone who needs to travel this evening to slow down and keep plenty of distance between their vehicle and those around them,” Douglas County Sheriff Troy Wolbersen said.

Dispatchers in the 911 center began receiving calls of multiple cars in the ditch Sunday afternoon. Crews from the county's Public Works department were sent out at 3:45 p.m. to treat slippery roads throughout the county.
