'Boot or Salute' July 11

An award-winning VFW

Salute: The Osakis VFW Post 7902 continued its long streak of success at the Minnesota VFW Convention on June 8. The post received many awards — third place in Youth Activities Program, third place in Community Service Record Book Contest, second place in Outstanding Safety Program, first place in American Citizenship and first place in Consecutive Membership Growth for the 37th year. In the club's monthly newsletter, VFW Commander Mike Kral pointed out that the efforts of all those involved in the success of the programs would go unrewarded if it weren't for the monthly Community Service reports sent to the Minnesota VFW Department by Kathy Fystrom and the efforts of Betty Anderson and Sue Nack in constructing the Community Service Record Book, which is displayed just inside the club's entrance. Ginny Earl also plays a key role with her continuous coordination of all the citizenship programs at the Osakis schools. The Osakis community is fortunate to have such an involved, committed and active organization that's dedicated to make the community a better place to live.
