age 95, of Osakis died October 22, 2019 at the Galeon in Osakis.
Russell Clayton Hevern was born Aug. 7, 1924 in Hillsboro, ND. He served his country in the U. S. Army as an infantryman during WW II. He received the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/ Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead. He was a devoted member and Past Commander of the Osakis VFW Post # 7902, serving 53 years in the Post Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Mae Hevern of Osakis; children, Rodney (Tammy Kieke) Hevern of Clearwater, Kim (David) Larsen of Billings, MT, Robyn Chrane of Austin, TX; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Molly Barber of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 26 at 2 pm at Osakis Lutheran Church. Honorary bearers were Kearney Frank, the VFW Post Honor Guard and VFW Comrades. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Carlos, MN. Arrangements by Roy-Hetland Funeral Home. www.royhetland.com
