May 29, 1919
Important meeting called. A meeting of all users of electric lights or power in the village of Osakis is desired at the commercial club rooms on Friday to consider propositions from outside parties for furnishing electric current to the village. It is important that every user of electric light or power attend this meeting. By order of the village council, May 27, 1919.
Band concerts. The Osakis Community Band gave the first of a series of summer concerts on the street last Saturday evening, when a large number of people listened to a high-class program. The weekly concerts will be held on Saturday evenings.
Decoration Day Program. Graves will be decorated at the various cemeteries and services will be held at the Catholic church. Afternoon activities include a parade from school to Lakeside Cemetery with soldiers of the recent war, firemen, school children and autos included; services at Lakeside Cemetery; decoration of graves; speakers in the park; and a baseball game.

VFW Post to honor all WWI 50 year Veterans. The local VFW Post is honoring all 50-year WWI veterans on Memorial Day. With the parade in the morning, Lakeside cemetery services and honored guests at a ham supper to be served at the clubrooms, followed by a dance.
Big ones caught off shore. Fishing off shore at the inlet to Lake Osakis has been popular and this past weekend saw some nice fish hauled in. Bob Pederson of Minneapolis, his brother-in-law, Robbie Schuneman of Carlos and Bob's grandfather, F. H. Pearson of Osakis each caught some nice ones, including a 10-pound northern.
Watch winner. Each year, shortly before graduation time, Rodger Larson, at Rodger's Jewelry, fixes up a large watch face on which he places the names of all the seniors in a pattern all the way around the clock. The name on which the one hand stops is then the winner of a watch. This year's winner is Dorothy Kral, who received a wristwatch.

Memorial Day service. Members of the Osakis, VFW Post and Auxiliary 7902 participated in a Memorial Day parade and program at Lakeside Cemetery to honor those who served and gave their lives for their country. The program included an address by Father Victor Kinzer and performances by the Osakis High School marching band and the Gordon Men's Choir.
OHS seniors recognized. Osakis High School seniors were honored on May 23 during an Honors Night awards ceremony in the fine arts auditorium.
Garden Club works to spruce up city. Garden Club members worked diligently on the flower boxes outside of the Osakis Post Office. They spent the better part of an evening planting all of the flower boxes along Main Street.
OHS diplomas. Osakis High School will award diplomas to 54 graduates Saturday in the second commencement ceremony to be held in the new gym. The 1994 OHS Senior Class Motto is: "Though we don't know where we're going, we will cherish where we've been. Our hearts will always be one, we will always be friends."

OHS Class of 2009. Commencement for the 2009 graduating class from Osakis High School took place Saturday in the gymnasium. There were 69 students in this year's class. The students were honored as a "very academic group" with more than 90 percent deciding to attend colleges, universities or technical schools after graduation.
Veterans honor fallen comrades. The Osakis Memorial Day remembrance included a short parade and service that included veterans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Osakis High School marching band. Kearney Frank, Russel Hevern, Melvin Resley and Willie Harris spoke about their fallen comrades at the remembrance program.
Women anglers coming to Lake Osakis. Close to 90 women plan to launch their boats on Lake Osakis for the 32nd annual Women Anglers of Minnesota fishing tournament June 6. This is the second year of the organization's tournament on Lake Osakis.
