The West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville wrestling team battled eight other programs at the Park Region Conference Tournament on Saturday and came away with a second-place finish, while Osakis came in ninth.

The Knights finished with 170 points, and the Silverstreaks had 38. Class A’s top-ranked Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Browerville won the championship with 227 points.

Osakis’ top finish came from senior Dominic Strom at 195 pounds. He scored 19 team points by taking second. Strom lost by fall in the championship to WCA’s Wyatt Olson, but won his first two matches by fall (3:07) and major decision (14-0).

Nathan Kulzer placed fifth at 126 pounds for Osakis. Kulzer won a 9-3 decision before dropping two matches. He bounced back with a 14-3 major decision win in the fifth-place match.

Logan Grove was sixth at 106 pounds. His lone win came by fall in 3:06. Senior Triston Stoetzel also got a win by fall in 4:27 at 170 pounds to earn two team points, but fell in his next two matches. Nathan Bjerk rounded out the top-six finishers for Osakis by taking sixth at 182 pounds.

WCA-A-B-E got two first-place finishes to lead the way to the second place team finish.

Wyatt Olson won the 195-pound title by sweeping his three matches. Those wins came by three straight falls in 1:54, 5:38 and 1:49.

Jordan Lohse also won the 138-pound championship. Lohse got a bye in the first round and then won by fall in 54 seconds and by major decision (9-1) in the title match.

It was part of a day that saw the Knights get podium finishes from up and down the lineup. Shad Swanson was fifth at 106 pounds. Ashton Danner was sixth at 113, Hunter Hanson fifth at 120, Anthony Sykora third at 126, Reubens Swanson fourth at 132, Bryce Lien third at 145, Kaleb Getz fourth at 152, Hunter Mickelsen fourth at 160, Colton Lindquist third at 182, Devin Stone second at 220 and Austin Mattson fifth at heavyweight. Deklin Goeden did not place in the top six but got a first-round win by fall in 2:40 that earned the Knights two team points.
