Osakis’ Nate Kulzer has been a consistent performer in the wrestling lineup since his eighth-grade season, and last Friday the junior was rewarded for that with his 100th-career win.

Kulzer’s performances at the Border West Triangular were a bright spot for the Silverstreaks as they went 0-2 in the team portion of the meet. Osakis lost 60-15 to Benson and 55-21 against Border West, but Kulzer got pins in both of those matches at 126 pounds.

“Nate's a great wrestler, and every time he steps on the mat he has a chance to win no matter how tough the competition is,” Osakis head coach Joey Andreasen said. “His ability to stay healthy and his determination for success has helped him reach this milestone. I couldn't be happier for him, and I hope there are many more wins to come.”

Kulzer’s win over Benson came in the first period as he pinned Hunter Mondor in 1:31. It was a similar script against Border West as Kulzer pinned Ryder Schmidt in 1:02.

Sophomore Logan Grove also went 2-0 in the tri. He got a pin in 3:47 at 106 against Benson and added another pin in 4:50 in his match against Border West.

Gaven Cimbura added a 10-5 decision win for Osakis against Benson, but the Braves took the final 10 weight classes to run away with the win.

Carsten Jacobson joined Grove and Kulzer with pins against Border West as Jacobson took down Logan Bock in 3:56. Dominic Strom also got a decision win, beating Michael Dennis, 8-5, at 195 pounds.

Osakis has its final two home meets of the season on the schedule this week. The Silverstreaks host a quad on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before taking on United North Central in a dual at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Park Region Conference Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 2 at Wadena-Deer Creek High School at 10 a.m.
