The Osakis wrestling team named Nathan Kulzer as its MVP this winter season after the junior put together another big season for the Silverstreaks.

Kulzer passed the 100-win mark in his career during a triangular at Border West this season. It was part of a year that saw him rack up big numbers on the way to a 29-12 record overall. Kulzer led the team in reversals (24) and also brought home the Phil Benedict Takedown Award for his team-leading 53 takedowns.

Logan Grove, a sophomore, also brought home a couple honors from the banquet, with one of those being the Most Improved Award. Grove led the team in pins with 16 to secure the OHS Pin Award. He finished his season with a 22-21 record while helping to anchor the top of the lineup.

Senior Dominic Strom got the award for the most escapes on the team with 28. Strom tied Kulzer for the most wins on the team after finishing with a 29-13 record. He had 11 pins, 28 takedowns and 20 reversals.

Triston Stoetzel rounded out the varsity award winners with the Silverstreak Award. Stoetzel had a big senior season with a 26-14 record overall. He posted 12 pins, 31 takedowns and 17 reversals as he and Strom provided Osakis with a good 1-2 punch near the bottom of the lineup.

Osakis got a team win in the Section 5A Tournament this season before running into a good Minnewaska team in the second round. Strom, Stoetzel and Kulzer all wrestled in third-place matches during the individual section tournament but fell just shy of earning a trip to state by placing in the top two at that section meet. Strom finished third at the 5A individual meet. Kulzer and Stoetzel were fourth in their weight classes, and Grove added a sixth-place finish.
