The Osakis baseball team took home a convincing road win over Holdingford Tuesday afternoon.

The Silverstreaks beat the Huskers (8-12) 14-1 behind a 10-run second inning. After scoring three runs in the top of the first, Osakis had five extra base hits all driving in runs. Doubles from Carter Rost, Logan Hartshorn, Isaac Froemming, Hunter Inganger and a triple from Luke Imdieke helped put Osakis ahead 13-0.

Rost started on the mound and pitched three innings. He gave up one unearned run, two hits and struck out seven batters. Mason Moore came on in relief and threw two scoreless innings and allowed one hit.

“It’s always nice to get an early lead so we can settle into the game,” Osakis head coach Shad Schmidt said. “The guys really mashed the ball today with 16 hits – seven of them being extra-base hits. Carter and Mason pitched well. We are heading in the right direction and are getting close to the playoffs. With one game left, we hope to fine tune everything and play our best baseball.”

Osakis is 14-3 now heading into a game at Royalton on Thursday at 5 p.m.
