The Osakis girls basketball team picked up its second win of the season on Thursday night at home over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (1-5).

Osakis won 64-55. Four Silverstreaks hit double digit points including Maddie Johnson’s team-leading 15-point game. Alexis Johanson had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

“The girls did a nice job of adjusting and cutting to the basket to create scoring opportunities,” head coach Pat Kalpin said. “It was nice to see the balanced scoring offensively. Defensively, I thought we worked hard, but sometimes got ourselves out of position, which opened up some driving lanes for them. Rebounding was really good tonight, not giving up many second chance scoring opportunities.”

Osakis overcame an early deficit to move to 2-3 on the season.

“LPGE came out and hit some early shots to take an early lead. I felt after we settled down, we were able to get great looks at the basket,” Kalpin said. “We were able to get quite a few points in the paint, which was good to see. The girls did a nice job of sharing the basketball to get good looks. We limited our turnovers from the previous games and got into a good offensive flow.”
