The Osakis boys basketball team picked up another easy win on Tuesday night, this time by beating Upsala in an 81-55 final.

The Silverstreaks (12-1, 4-0 Prairie Conference) overcame a bit of a slow start against the Cardinals (6-7, 2-1 Prairie), but Osakis’ firepower was too much for Upsala. The Silverstreaks put up 40 in the first half to lead by 12 and added 41 more over the final 18 minutes.

“Slow start for us defensively as we had issues guarding their dribble drive, which caused us to over help and give up threes or easy layups,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “We saved ourselves by switching to zone, which took them out of their rhythm and allowed us to get out in transition. It was encouraging to score 81 points when we didn't shoot it really well the first half and early in the second half.”

Osakis shot 42% from the field (28-66) but knocked down 10 threes. Four each came from guards Bauer Klimek and Daniel Savageau.

Savageau had 24 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Klimek added 16 points, while Luke Imdieke and Kobie Lara each had nine.

“Upsala had a great game plan and shot well,” Hoelscher said. “They gave us everything they had and we were fortunate they went cold for a stretch and turned it over. They have quick guards, work hard and have multiple guys who can shoot, so if they're all clicking, they can beat anyone.”
