Boys golf: Osakis finishes fourth at Paynesville

The Osakis boys golf team went to the Koronis Hills Country Club in Paynesville on Monday and came back with a fourth-place finish in a Central Minnesota Conference meet.

The Silverstreaks shot a 188, led by a 44 from senior Derek Hetland and eighth-grader Noah Dirkes. That left them just outside the top five individually.

Junior Tanner Mathews shot a 49 for Osakis, while senior Sam Sommars and junior Preston Kirksey each shot a 51. Freshman Jacob Uhl rounded out the lineup with a 54.

Kimball-Eden Valley-Watkins won the meet by one stroke in front of Pierz after shooting a 175. They lead Pierz in the overall CMC standings by 10 strokes. Osakis is fifth in those standings with 996 total strokes.
